An Awesome Field Trip
Tuesday, June 17 2014
Yesterday, our class and Mr.Hacket's class went on a field trip mini golfing and sand volleyball. When we got to our destination we first went to play volleyball. Sam C who is also Mr.Clements' daughter and I used to play volleyball together so we were both on the same team. After playing in the hot sand for a while, we split ourselves up into groups for golfing and I was with Adina, Emma and Sam C. When we were finished we got ice-cream and it was awesome! It was a beautiful day yesterday and I think it was an amazing field trip!
My Weekend
Monday, June 2 2014
On Saturday I had plans to invite a friend over but my dad forgot so early in the morning he woke me up and asked if I wanted to go fishing with him and my brother, Gavin. I told him no and went back to sleep. My mom thought I went with my dad and when they got back at one o'clock she didn't even know I was in the house the whole time. The next day I went to church with my mom and brother and when it was finished we dropped Gavin off at my house and my mom and I went to let out my friend's dog because they were going to be out for the day. When we got there their car was still parked in their driveway but we went in anyway and stayed for a little while. We then we had to leave because my mom had to go to work and I was going to my cousins to swim. I had an awesome time and I can't wait until summer so I can do it all the time.
Taj Mahal
Monday, April 14 2014
The Taj Mahal is a famous mausoleum in India. A mausoleum is a building that has tombs for the dead. It was built as the final resting place for Mumtaz Mahal, the third wife of Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan. The name Taj Mahal means "Crown of Palaces". The full height of The Taj Mahal is 171.
Mad Science!
Wednesday, April 2 2014
Today, a man came in to teach us mad science. He was very funny and kind. He told us to call him Super Sonic Ed. He said that magicians sometimes use science for their acts. Super Sonic Ed also gave us plastic cups that turned blue when it was cold and white when it wasn't. He let us play with dry ice by hitting it with our cups around on our desks and he taught us about carbon dioxide and what happens when you press metal to dry ice like a coin. Another thing he taught us was about soft metal. It melts when you add water and freezes back to a solid when you make it cold. I think it was a very fun and educational experience.
March Break
My march break was amazing! Every year my mum takes me and my brother to a skiing resort called Schuss Mountain. It takes 5 hours to get there but as soon as we do it's definitely worth the drive. When we arrived the very first thing we did was go get our key to the place we were going to stay in, then we started to unpack. After getting all the things out of our car one of my cousins that we were meeting came over to our place. His name is Garret and he's 12 years old. My other cousin that came was 17 years old and his name is Hayden. The next day we went to rent our equipment and my Aunt Heather took us onto the chairlift up on top of the mountain because my mum doesn't ski. I went on a double black diamond too this year and I really had fun.
The 2014 Winter Olympics
I think the Olympics are Canada doing so well. In class, we did a biography on a winter olympian that's competing this year and the person I chose is a freestyle halfpipe skier and her name is Keltie Hansen. I also have a really amazing video of Keltie in the XGames and a couple of pictures of her.
We had a great time at our field trip! I thought the citizenship ceremony was really neat to see. When I had imagined what is was going to look like, I thought it would have been bigger than it was and there would be some more people but I'm happy it wasn't like that because the judge interacted with us more. Science City was also fantastic! There were so many awesome things to see. Even though everything else was also really interesting, my favourite part was the Human Bubble.
Christmas Break
Tuesday, January 21 2014
Over Christmas break I had a lot of fun. I got a lot of great presents and enjoyed spending time with my relatives. My favourite gift that I got was a bow with two arrows. A couple days after Christmas, with all the snow, my family and I went outside to have a snowball fight and build a rectangle snowman using recycle bins. The most peculiar way to build a snowman I've ever heard of.
My Christmas Card
Tuesday, December 17 2013
In the lab we made Christmas cards on a website called Fotor.
Christmas Tagxedo
Monday, December 16 2013
In the computer lab, today, we made another tagxedo picture but this time the theme was Christmas.
A Day In The Cold
Sunday, December 15 2013
Today my mum and dad, brother and I went to my cousins, Parker and Colton's hockey game to watch and they were really great. They won 15 to 5. Afterwards we went to the hills nearby and had a lot of fun sledding. We didn't stay too long though because it was so windy and freezing cold with all the snow. When we were finished, we headed back to their house to have some cookies and hot chocolate. After everyone was done eating, all of the kids went downstairs to play legos and hide n' go seek. We had a great day.
Monday, December 2 2013
Over the weekend my dad, brother and I got all the Christmas decorations from the attic and put up our lights. I even got to climb on the roof! When we were all done, we went to the grocery store, came home, had some hot chocolate and my brother and I played xbox for a while. After that we collected some things to make a wreath so we could put it on my grampa's grave for the holidays. It was a very eventful day!
No Bully Zone
Friday, November 29 2013
As an awareness for no bullying, we did something called "The Red Door Project". There was a lady that came in and used some volunteers to say some things that might be happening at home that others don't know about. And if people at school are teasing them, the weight on their shoulders gets heavier to a point that they can't take it any longer.
Friday, November 22 2013
Today in class we presented plays for some of the younger grades because of anti bullying week. I had lots of fun with my group when making the play and presenting it. Fortunately we were able to get through it without the script and I think we did pretty well. In our presentation, I played the bully, my friend, Adina, was the one that was bullied and my other friend, Morgan, was the principal and narrator. I'm really excited for the next play in drama because I enjoyed this one a lot. During the presentation I think I could have been a little bit more enthusiastic, but overall, besides our play, I think the best one was Sydney's who was in a group of 5. My favourite part we did was the ending when Morgan and I said some things about how bullying is bad and we stepped aside and Adina came through as our great finish.
Sherlock Holmes, The Speckled Band
In class, we read a Sherlock Holmes mystery called The Speckled Band so we all used a site called tagxedo and created words inside of an image that describes the story. It is very convenient and easy to use.
Hello. My name is Cara. I am 10 years old and in grade 5. My teacher is Mr.Clements, I think he's really cool. On my blog, you can expect to see lots of art, entries, videos and random things that all describe me. I hope you'll enjoy :)
